These are common accounts and permissions you’ll need for working at Vanilla.
GitHub
Working at Vanilla requires a free GitHub account. You may use any account with any email address. Vanilla uses two accounts to manage its repos: vanilla
(for product repos) and vanillaforums
(for customer repos). Ask your boss for an invite to both (provide your username!).
Access to product repos is governed by teams: R&D Developer, Services Developer, Ops, or Staff. Only 1 team per person is needed.
Access to customer repos is available to all staff by default. The ‘Developers’ team gives write access.
ZenHub
We use ZenHub to track sprints for both the R&D and services teams. It uses SSO from your GitHub account, but requires a license after you sign in for the first time. Ask your boss to add a license for you.
Vanilla’s Clusters
Developers who need access to deploy clusters are permissioned per 100-level cluster group. See deploying for a breakdown of each level.
Browserstack
We currently have two seats for browser testing. See your boss to get access.
Transifex
We use Transifex to manage our product UI translations which are then pulled to the locales repo using our txsync utility. Services and support developers need access.
StatusPage.io
We use StatusPage.io to host our cloud status and uptime. Support developers need access.
…and everything else
If you need access to something, ask. If we can’t give it to you, we’ll at least explain why.
